What changes from October into November?
On 19 October 2026, KTEL Chania–Rethymno listed Chania Airport timetables for 16–24 October and 25–31 October 2026. The latter has date-specific airport–Chania departures. Town departures from Chania and Rethymno have their own schedules. No November airport timetable was listed in that directory at this review; this is not evidence that November services stop. Check the operator again for your exact dates and read each schedule's direction, weekday and footnotes.
In Heraklion, check the city-bus operator separately from regional KTEL Heraklion–Lasithi connections. KTEL's 29 September notice ends only the summer local Matala–Komos–Kalamaki–Agia Galini services on 30 September 2026; it does not end every bus to those destinations. For November or winter travel, confirm the airport stop, regional connection and final local journey individually. Ask your accommodation to confirm it will be open and provide the correct entrance, check-in arrangements and a working contact number.
Public bus or private airport transfer?
The best choice depends on the complete journey, not on a label such as peak or late season. A bus can be the economical option when its current timetable aligns with the flight, the destination is directly served and the group can manage luggage between stops. A private transfer removes the timetable connection and takes the party to the selected hotel, villa or address in one vehicle.
Compare a published private fare as a vehicle total. Kreta Rides prices are not per passenger: a taxi covers up to four passengers, a minivan up to eight and a minibus up to sixteen, subject to luggage capacity and availability. If the exact place cannot be matched reliably to the live catalog, the booking remains a free custom quote rather than showing a guessed price.
Arriving at Heraklion Airport (HER)
For public transport, start with the official Heraklion Urban Bus timetables for the city connection and KTEL Heraklion–Lasithi for regional travel. The urban operator publishes separate weekday, Saturday and Sunday tables and asks passengers to check its announcements. Confirm whether your destination requires a change in Heraklion; an airport-to-city service does not guarantee a direct bus to a resort. Allow time after landing for passport control, baggage collection and reaching the correct stop.
For a private pickup, enter the flight number and the exact hotel, villa or resort in the booking request. Airport pickups include flight monitoring and meet-and-greet; the request becomes a confirmed transfer only after Kreta Rides accepts the date, time, route and vehicle.
Arriving at Chania Airport (CHQ)
Chania Airport's official bus page says service connects the airport with Chania, Rethymno and other destinations. It places the bus stop across the Departures area on the east side of the terminal and says tickets can be bought from the driver. The airport page then directs travelers to KTEL Chania–Rethymno for current information.
Open the dated KTEL timetable for the travel day and check the destination as well as the departure time. A listing for Chania or Rethymno does not by itself prove a direct service to a particular hotel. If a connection or final taxi would be needed, compare the whole journey with a direct private transfer before deciding.
Late flights, winter pickups and the return journey
A scheduled landing time is only the starting point. Build the ground plan around the time the group can realistically leave arrivals. Checked luggage, passport control, assistance needs and a delayed aircraft can all move that moment. For public transport, decide in advance what you will do if the intended departure is missed.
For a Kreta Rides airport pickup, provide the correct flight number and send any airline, airport or date change promptly. Flight monitoring cannot identify a replacement flight that was never supplied. For a November or winter villa pickup, send the exact entrance or map pin and a contact who can be reached on the day. Plan the return pickup around the airline's check-in deadline, journey time and a buffer for traffic or weather; ask the operations team to confirm the pickup time. A return transfer can be requested in the same booking, with its total shown before submission.
